These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of rolelingo, a language-learning app operated by toemtech (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
By using rolelingo, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Service Description
rolelingo provides AI-powered language-learning features, including:
- AI character chat
- Voice roleplay
- Speaking practice
- Phrase practice
- Pronunciation support
- Learning scenarios
- Transcripts and feedback
- Subscription-based premium features
The app is designed for educational and entertainment purposes.
The app is not a professional translation, immigration, legal, medical, financial, emergency, or psychological service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, whichever is higher.
If you are under the age of majority in your country, you may use the app only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
By using the app, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
3. Accounts
You may need an account to access certain features.
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your account
- Keeping your login credentials confidential
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Providing accurate account information

4. AI Features and Accuracy
The app uses artificial intelligence to generate conversations, voice responses, translations, feedback, roleplay interactions, and learning assistance.
AI-generated content may be:
- Inaccurate
- Incomplete
- Unnatural
- Inappropriate
- Misleading
- Offensive
- Not suitable for your situation
You should not rely on the app as your only source for important decisions.
We do not guarantee that AI responses, translations, grammar explanations, pronunciation feedback, or learning suggestions will always be correct.
5. Voice and Conversation Features
When you use voice features, your microphone input may be processed to provide speech recognition, transcription, AI responses, and voice output.
You agree not to use the voice or chat features to create, request, or transmit content that is:
- Illegal
- Harmful
- Abusive
- Harassing
- Hateful
- Sexually explicit
- Exploitative
- Infringing
- Deceptive
- Fraudulent
- Otherwise inappropriate
6. Subscriptions and Payments
Some features may require a paid subscription.
Subscriptions may automatically renew unless canceled before the end of the billing period.
Billing, cancellation, and refunds are handled through the applicable app store, such as Apple App Store or Google Play, and/or subscription management providers such as RevenueCat.
We do not control app store refund decisions.
Refunds are subject to the policies of Apple, Google, or the applicable payment provider.
Prices, subscription plans, and features may change from time to time. If required, we will provide notice of material changes.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the app for illegal, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes
- Harass, threaten, or harm others
- Violate the rights of others
- Upload or transmit content that you do not have the right to provide
- Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, scrape, or misuse the app
- Interfere with the operation, security, or availability of the service
- Circumvent payment, usage limits, rate limits, or access controls
- Use the app to generate spam, malware, phishing content, deceptive content, or impersonation content
- Use the app in a way that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the app without permission
8. User Content
You may provide text, voice input, messages, prompts, preferences, or other content through the app (“User Content”).
You retain any rights you have in your User Content.
By using the app, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to process, transmit, store, display, reproduce, and use your User Content only as necessary to:

- Generate AI responses
- Provide voice and transcription features
- Store session history
- Provide learning feedback
- Maintain and secure the service
- Improve app functionality
- Comply with legal obligations
You are responsible for your User Content and for ensuring that you have the right to provide it.
9. App Content and Intellectual Property
The app and its content are owned by us or our licensors, including:
- Characters
- Images
- Teacher audio files
- Phrase audio files
- Lesson content
- Scenario content
- Background images
- Designs
- Software
- Trademarks
- UI elements
- Generated lesson assets provided by the app
You may use the app only for personal, non-commercial language-learning purposes.
You may not copy, redistribute, resell, publicly share, extract, or commercially exploit app content unless we give you written permission.
10. Third-Party Services
The app may rely on third-party services, including:
- OpenAI
- Supabase
- Firebase
- RevenueCat
- Apple
Your use of the app may also be subject to the terms and policies of those third-party services.
We are not responsible for third-party services, outages, processing, policies, data handling, or decisions outside our control.
11. Service Availability
We may modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue any part of the app at any time.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or always-available service.
AI, voice, transcription, payment, storage, authentication, and notification features may depend on third-party systems and may sometimes fail or be unavailable.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the app if:
- You violate these Terms
- You misuse the service
- Your use creates risk for us or other users
- We are required to do so by law
- We discontinue the service or relevant features
You may stop using the app at any time.
You may request account deletion as described in our Privacy Policy.
13. Disclaimers
The app is provided “as is” and “as available.”
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of:
- Accuracy
- Reliability
- Availability
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
- Error-free operation
We do not guarantee that using the app will lead to any specific language-learning outcome, fluency level, exam result, job result, travel result, academic result, or personal result.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, toemtech will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including:
- Loss of data
- Loss of profits
- Loss of goodwill
- Service interruptions
- Inaccurate AI outputs
- Incorrect translations
- Learning errors
- Voice recognition errors
- Unauthorized access outside our reasonable control
Our total liability for any claim related to the app will be limited to the amount you paid to use the app during the three months before the claim arose, or USD $50, whichever is greater, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
15. Privacy
Your use of the app is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, store, and share information.
16. Mandatory Local Rights
These Terms do not limit any mandatory consumer protection, privacy, cancellation, refund, or statutory rights you may have under the laws of your country.
If a provision of these Terms is unenforceable in your location, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
If we make material changes, we may notify you through the app, by email, or by updating the effective date above.
Your continued use of the app after the updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Republic of Korea, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
If you are located in a country with mandatory consumer protection or data protection laws, those rights are not limited by these Terms.
